Father and Young Son Walking Into Woods Captioned Narcissism: Echo Apologetics presents The Sins of the Fathers by KC3Lady
The Sins of the Fathers by KC3Lady

Drive out the scoffer, and contention will go out, even strife and dishonor will cease. - Proverbs 22:10
There once was a young man who was dear to my heart. He aspired to become a pastor. Unfortunately, it appears the deadly cults and their members targeted him as a teenager. Over the following decades every aspect of his young life came under relentless attack, always with the goal of the victim internalizing the blame. One aspect of this take down campaign includes grinding their mangled scripture of the Holy Bible into his very heart and soul, determined to crush his faith and spirit, along with his mind and body.

This young man grew up in a family of six as the only male child. So he took it upon himself at a tender young age to be the defender during his father's unpredictable drunken physical outbursts. Even though his father was a deacon in the small, dysfunctional Disciples of Christ Church that had broken off from the parent church, he was no example or role model for handling anger in a healthy manner. His father was a hot-tempered alcoholic, and as he would later discover, a pedophile.

Gaslighting: Raising Awareness

While we have seen videos on YouTube claiming gaslighting is really "just lying," it is much more than that. While gaslighting could certainly be considered dishonest, untruthful, and mendacious, it is more than that. In our experience it is often used to exploit, trick, defraud, swindle, hoodwink, manipulate, or even neutralize. This article recounts true events as it proposed an alternative third phase or an additional fourth phase to Dr. Robin Stern's published three phases of gaslighting in her book, The Gaslight Effect.

Gaslighting is much more than just lying, deceiving, or being dishonest with someone. Learn about gaslighting by enjoying these top ten gaslighting quotes, mostly by licensed experts. For the better part of a decade we have promoted many of these quotes, first on Narcissistic Personality Disorder Mother Facebook Resource Page, prior to its last hijacking a few years ago now, then on Echo Scapegoat Recovery Tactics for a couple of years prior to settling on Narcissism: Echo Apologetics.

Narcissism Echo Apologetics presents Bullying: Scoffers, Mockers, Ridicule, and Scorn in the Bible and Today
Bullying: Scoffers, Mockers, Ridicule, and Scorn in the Bible and Today

Though He scoffs at the scoffers, yet He gives grace to the afflicted. - Proverbs 3:34
It appears many people today believe that everyone has the right to practice their religions, no matter how lethal or off-the-wall, except Christians. Twenty-five years ago I was advised by a licensed psychiatrist, theologian, and radio personality not to mention I was a Christian when I applied to graduate school. I later decided on law school rather than a Ph.D, which I still may pursue yet.

While working on my associates at a local community college in the then newly established PACE Program, about half of the class of approximately 150 students got up and left the room. Why? The philosophy instructor was ranting and raging about Christianity and the Bible in such an offensive manner as to cause many of the adult students to simply get up and leave. If we had been fresh out of high school and away from home for the first time, would we have had the courage to give the same response? Christianity and Christians have been under attack in our school system and higher education institutes for decades.

Codependency in the Bible

An attitude exists claiming psychology and the Bible are diametrically opposed and mutually exclusive that is just simply not true. While the disciple of psychology is not even 150 years old, and not especially friendly as a profession to Christianity, there is psychology in the Bible, including practical advice on relationships, boundaries, and mental health.

Skeptics and critics of the Bible and the Christian faith love to attempt to point out contradictions in the Holy Scriptures. Galatians 6:2 and 6:5 were the very first Scripture pointed out to me many years ago as an alleged clear example of the Bible contradicting itself. This was said at the time to discourage, and even ridicule my Christian beliefs. So it turns out to be somewhat ironic these verses are so ripe with clear instruction, rather than contradiction.

Flying Monkeys: No Contact or Low Contact

Do Not Become a Narcissist's Flying Monkey Video © by Gail Meyers A narcissistic personality disordered mother has flying monkeys. This is a term taken from The Wizard of Oz , where the flying monkeys do the bidding of the Wicked Witch.  The flying monkeys may be your neighbor, church members, siblings, aunts, uncles, grandmother, grandfather, nieces, nephews, etc. These people do the narcissist's dirty work and often pour their own abuse on the scapegoat. I spent years of my life trying to show various flying monkeys the truth. It virtually never worked, not once in the twenty or so years I kept trying to "clear the air" or to finally be understood. They do not understand because they do not want to understand. Many are willfully ignorant and blind to the situation.  There is not some magical phrase and method you have not yet discovered that is suddenly going to cause these people to stand up for the truth. What I have realized is t...

Tactics of a Narcissistic Mother by Gail Meyers

"The Mask Slipped...by Artist Sherit Ra of Deviant Art (now displaying under another artist's name) Tactics of a Narcissistic Mother © by Gail Meyers This insight into narcissistic personality disorder is offered from the perspective more than 40 years spent as the daughter of a narcissistic personality disordered mother, as well as years of recovery and raising awareness. Reading a list of diagnostic traits of narcissistic personality disorder may be a helpful guide, but this is how some of those traits played out in my personal experience in everyday life. Narcissism Eleanor D. Payson, MSW Quote | Source In the words of Eleanor D. Payson, MSW and author of The Wizard of Oz and Other Narcissists, "The word narcissism in its most fundamental sense means a tendency to self-worship." However, narcissistic personality personality disorder is a serious condition that can be especially damaging to the children. It is not...
